I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and have been in private practice since 1983.

I received a Master’s degree from The University of Connecticut School of Social Work in 1978 and a Bachelor’s in Psychology and Sociology from The University of Bridgeport in 1974. My early career training included working in a progressive psychiatric hospital developing expertise in family therapy and substance abuse treatment.

Throughout my career, I have been interested in how people navigate the major transitions in life—from leaving home and moving out into the world as young adults, to finding satisfying work and developing in a career, to finding a life partner and raising a family, to caring for elderly parents and planning for their own retirement.

In particular I have been most drawn to helping women and men in transition come into their own, discover personal strengths they never knew they had, and find their voice. Taking a holistic approach that looks at body, mind, and spirit, I help people create the most fulfilling life possible for themselves.

Many of my clients may have a sense of “something missing” and want to find a clear direction for themselves going forward. Some may be feeling stuck --- not knowing how to make the necessary changes to reach their full potential or stay balanced in the face of work/life demands. Others may be dealing with difficult personal, family and relationship situations involving illness and loss. And still others come because they find themselves repeating behaviors that are self defeating or interfering with lives.

Health concerns, such as arthritis, high blood pressure and heart disease, thyroid disorders, diabetes, cancer, fibromyalgia, lupus, also bring clients to see me, as do weight problems, eating disorders, and substance abuse.

One of my areas of specialties over the years has been working with teachers. This is an especially difficult time as they deal with changing demands and expectations. Recent violence has changed the climate they work in and added a sense of increased isolation and anxiety.

Another specialty area is helping people learn coping strategies for reducing stress, anxiety, and panic.

With all of my clients my goal is to help them reach their goals and dreams.
