Margot Longenecker, ND practices naturopathic family medicine in Guilford and Wallingford, CT.

 

Naturopathic physicians are trained as general practitioners. Dr. Longenecker’s practice includes conventional medical sciences and technologies such as lab tests and physical examinations, as well as natural medicines and procedures, which are effective, safe, non-invasive, and non-toxic.


The initial visit consists of an in-depth consultation after which Dr. Longenecker creates individualized treatment plans that can include the following therapeutics: nutrition, botanicals, acupuncture, lifestyle counseling, homeopathy and supplements.


With a focus on the whole person and an emphasis on prevention, Dr. Longenecker helps patients to optimize their health. The scope of diseases treatable with naturopathic medicine is quite comprehensive. Short-term problems can be successfully treated as well as addressing the prevention of and relief from chronic illnesses.


Dr. Longenecker was raised in Asheville, North Carolina and has recently moved back to the Shoreline area here in Connecticut. In addition to graduating from the National College of Naturopathic Medicine (NCNM) in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Longenecker completed a two-year residency program in family practice at NCNM Natural Health Centers. Dr. Longenecker served as Co-Director of the Integrative Medicine Center at Griffin Hospital in Derby and has worked at the University of Bridgeport College of Naturopathic Medicine both as an administrator and a member of the faculty. Currently she is an adjunct faculty member supervising in the teaching clinic of the college. Dr. Longenecker has over fifteen years of practice experience.


Dr. Longenecker is a current member and past board member of the American Association of Naturopathic Medicine. She is also a member of the Connecticut Naturopathic Physicians Association, the Arizona Naturopathic Medical Association and the Colorado Association of Naturopathic Doctors.


Dr. Longenecker practiced here in Connecticut from 2002 until 2009 and then moved to Oregon to become Dean of Naturopathic Medicine at NCNM. She is very happy to return to private practice and to be back with family and friends here in Connecticut.


In addition to a general naturopathic practice, Dr. Longenecker’s area of special interest includes the following: cognitive function, memory, focus, mild brain trauma and post-concussive syndrome.
