Therapeutic Massage

My personal journey with Therapeutic Massage began after being in two major car accidents. Because of severe whiplash I began to suffer from chronic neck and jaw pain; constant headaches; numbness in my forehead; and hip issues. A friend recommended massage therapy, so I tried it. How pleased I was to find out how much massage actually helped me in my recovery! Now massage is part of my own personal wellness plan!

After receiving its benefits personally, I want to give back to others … so, with my husband and family’s support I went back to school to become a massage therapist. I graduated from the Connecticut Center of Massage Therapy in Newington, CT where I received special recognition with a certificate of academic achievement by maintaining a GPA of 4.0. I am certified by the NCBTMB (National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork) and I’m a member of AMTA (American Massage Therapy Association).

I’ve had the pleasure of volunteering at a Nursing Home in West Hartford working with some patients there and also volunteering along with the AMTA Sports Massage Team at the Colchester Half Marathon in the winter of 2011. I feel that volunteering is a great way of giving back to the community and I try to spend time each week as a volunteer.

As a Licensed Massage Therapist, I believe that when it comes to massage each session is as unique as the individual. I specialize in custom tailoring each massage session to the individual; integrating various modalities into each session as needed or desired. Some of those modalities are Classic Western / Swedish massage, Deep Tissue, Myofascial Release techniques, Acupressure and Sports Massage.

I believe massage therapy can be an essential part of anyone’s wellness plan. The benefits range from: recovery from an injury, reducing post workout/event soreness, stress and anxiety reduction, retraining postural issues and relief from chronic pain. Although we all lead busy lives, it’s vitally important to take time out of our busy schedules to recharge physically and mentally. Massage is a great way to do that for ourselves!
