Leslie Hyman, a psychotherapist, is a licensed clinical social worker with an extensive history of working with both individuals and groups who have experienced trauma, whether from illness, abuse or external events. She has worked for a total of 25 years at the Yale Psychiatric Institute and the Connecticut Mental Health Center, and she is a Clinical Instructor in Psychiatry (Social Work) at the Yale School of Medicine. In the chaotic aftermath of September 11, she served as an emergency response therapist at the Family Support Center in New York City. She has also lectured Residents at the Yale Medical School on the importance of addressing the psychotherapeutic needs of cancer patients. As a cancer survivor herself, Leslie is particularly sensitive to the processes of emotional healing from life-threatening events.
Leslie received her BA in 1983 from The University of Massachusetts at Amherst and her MSW in 1986 from Smith College School for Social Work.
